Israel 2026 — current UI screen specification
Snapshot: 2026-10-01, based on the local Next.js app. This describes implemented screens and visible behavior, not future features. Routes that depend on imported content may show no page when their required package is absent.
Product frame
Israel 2026 is a Hebrew-first, right-to-left public information site. It helps readers inspect sourced facts about the election, public institutions, living conditions, education, religion and state, and Israel's international ties. The UI separates observations, dates, units, caveats, and source links. It avoids a single composite score or unsourced conclusion.
The root document uses lang="he" and dir="rtl". The visual system uses Heebo, dark navy text (#102a3a), an off-white background (#f7f5ef), warm orange accents, bordered cards, and spacious editorial sections. Links and controls have visible keyboard focus. Dates and source links appear close to claims. Longer caveats use disclosure controls. Several tables scroll horizontally on narrow screens.
Global navigation and shared patterns
- The home page has a sticky header with brand, desktop navigation, and a compact mobile
תפריטdisclosure. Its links lead to the major topic sections and standalone pages. The footer links to requests, profiles, sources, updates, methodology, and corrections. - Standalone pages generally open with a small local navigation row, a topic label, a question or title, a short explanation, and a review date. Most use topic cards, charts or tables, a limitations section, direct source links, and a JSON download link.
- A source date is a review date, not necessarily the period measured. Every screen showing data should keep the observation period and unit visible where a reader uses the number.
- Source links open the original publication. JSON download links expose only whitelisted public content packages.
- If a required content package is missing, several server-rendered routes return the framework's 404 page. The Knesset directory has a specific preparation state. Search and filter views have an explicit no-results state where implemented.
Screen inventory
1. Home dashboard — /
The hero states the site's purpose and offers routes into the content. Four topic tiles jump to government, state indicators, religion and state, and international sections. Government shows current officeholders and Knesset factions; indicators show cards with observations, small bars, units, and sources; religion and international show sourced fact cards. The international section includes a country/region search and opinion table, plus selected trend cards. A housing-cost card explains the household burden measure. The bottom sections explain methodology and provide a correction form or configured correction link. Mobile navigation closes after following a link.
2. Election and candidate screens
| Route | Screen | Main UI and behavior |
|---|---|---|
/election |
Filed lists for the 26th Knesset | Date and status banner; selected party publications and sourced positions; list directory with live search by list name or one of the first five candidates; result count; source and JSON links; caveats and updates. |
/election/education |
Selected party education proposals | Side-by-side sourced proposal cards and comparison limits. |
/candidates |
Selected candidate index | Cards with list, filing order, party role, source and profile link. Coverage warning. |
/candidates/[slug] |
Candidate profile | Selected sourced facts, optional legislative records and party education position, date, caveats and related public-figure profile link. |
/candidates/compare |
Candidate comparison | Desktop comparison table of filing order, party role, selected prior role and party education proposal; mobile cards for the same fields; scope notes and source links. |
These screens describe filed lists and partial selected evidence. They should not imply final ballot approval, complete candidate coverage, or that a party proposal is an individual candidate's pledge.
3. Government and people screens
| Route | Screen | Main UI and behavior |
|---|---|---|
/government |
Current government directory | Dated officeholder list, role and ministry details, by-person representation summary with expandable names, profile links, and caveats. |
/knesset-members |
25th Knesset member directory | Server-side form filtering by name, faction during the term, and year; result count/cards, empty-results message, and data-preparation state. Includes former members as well as current members. |
/knesset-members/overview |
Knesset data overview | Responsive summary cards, bar charts for term starts and biography coverage, and a searchable, paginated member table. Name, year and faction filters update all views. Counts describe documented people and records, not seats on a date. |
/knesset-members/[personId] |
Member profile | Dated membership and faction timelines, sourced biographical fields, and an explicit voting-record coverage note. |
/figures |
Selected public figures | Profile cards with current role, faction, dates, source links and first-edition coverage limits. |
/figures/[slug] |
Public figure profile | Sourced background, selected roles, documented legal proceedings when present, updates, and scope caveats. |
4. Living conditions and indicators
| Route | Screen focus |
|---|---|
/cost-of-living |
Entry page connecting pay, housing burden, essential prices, debt and poverty without combining unlike measures. |
/compare |
Local price, wage and rent changes beside a separate OECD price-level comparison. |
/income |
Mean and median pay per worker/job and household work income; distinct definitions. |
/housing-costs |
Purchase-price index and trend, sampled rents, household housing burden, historical OECD price-to-income index. |
/essential-costs |
Consumer price indices for essentials, OECD tax-wedge scenario, and a visible childcare-data gap. |
/household-pressure |
Household debt, poverty, inequality, emergency resources and related measures. |
/indicators/wages |
Historical annual wage comparison with Europe, chart/table and definitions. |
/indicators/employment |
Historical employment-rate comparison with Europe, chart/table and definitions. |
/quality-of-life |
Life evaluation, safety, environment and community measures. |
/safety |
Road-safety comparison and source/method note. |
These pages are reading and exploration screens. Their visualizations and tables must keep the measure's population, period, currency/index base and source in view. They should avoid presenting a ratio of unrelated averages as household affordability.
5. Education and public services
| Route | Screen focus |
|---|---|
/education |
Education overview connecting learning outcomes, attainment, class size, resources and transition to work. |
/education-access |
Enrollment, average class size, student-to-teacher ratio and spending per student. |
/education-inequality |
Gaps in science outcomes and completion by sex and socioeconomic group. |
/education-workforce |
Youth education/work status, adult skills and foundational skills. |
/services/[slug] |
Source-linked public service detail pages. |
/services/health/waiting |
Specialist waiting-time page with measure, method and caveats. |
6. Religion and state
| Route | Screen focus |
|---|---|
/religion-consumer-costs |
Evidence map separating public allocation, service scope, business fee and potential consumer effect. |
/religion-funding-history |
Selected historical budget lines with budget-stage choice and reading guidance. |
/kosher-costs |
Official certificate fees, older aggregate fee estimate and limits on consumer-price inference. |
/saturday-transport |
Free-to-rider weekend service and proposed operating allocations. |
/saturday-commerce |
Evidence and limits around local rules, enforcement and retail series. |
/military-service |
Historical enlistment, reserve service, actual payments and conditional economic scenarios as separate sections. |
7. International ties and dependencies
| Route | Screen focus |
|---|---|
/international-overview |
Entry page combining separate public-attitude, material-relationship and institutional evidence. |
/international-standing |
Selected UN votes, diplomatic events, court proceedings and bilateral merchandise trade. |
/dependencies |
Economic and financial relationship overview, including trade, US appropriations, external assets and liabilities. |
/trade-investment-dependencies |
Foreign direct investment, goods and services trade, origin and sector views. |
/technology-dependencies |
Selected technology import groups, partner shares and research ties. |
/diplomatic-dependencies |
Relationship events, votes, security appropriations and selected trade links. |
/defense-dependencies |
US appropriations, active sales cases, possible-sale notices and delivered-arms indicator. |
/critical-links |
Tourism, air travel, fuel imports and electricity measures. |
/government-confidence |
Government-confidence comparison across selected countries and historical archive. |
/institutional-trust |
Trust in selected Israeli institutions and historical series. |
Each page presents dated measures separately. The UI does not derive a combined isolation, dependency or risk score from incompatible units.
8. Trust, provenance and participation
| Route | Screen | Main UI and behavior |
|---|---|---|
/sources |
Public source catalogue | One card per available public package, with title, slug, review date/age, source links, permalink and JSON download. |
/history |
Prior versions | Version history with links to archived packages or changes. |
/changes |
Corrections and updates | Dated public change records with direct anchors from relevant pages. |
/methodology |
Editorial method | Explains how the site evaluates claims and invites readers to check sources. |
/requests |
Ask for data or a question | Choose request type; required description of 15–3,000 characters; optional context, source URL and email. Submit shows sending, success or error feedback. Requests remain private for review. |
/#corrections |
Report a correction | Home-page form or configured link for a page, problematic text and supporting source; shows sending, success or error feedback when the form is used. |
9. Owner-only database screen — /admin/data
This screen is separate from the public navigation and appears only when an admin password is configured. Browser Basic authentication is required. A sidebar lists database tables/views. The owner can search, filter, sort, paginate, inspect schema, inspect full cell/row values, and export the current grid page as JSON. Queries are read-only. When no admin password is set, the route returns 404.
Interaction and responsive requirements reflected in the implementation
- Internal navigation uses normal links and anchors. A focused skip link is available on the dashboard. Keyboard focus is outlined.
- Search inputs update visible results in the home public-attitudes table and the election directory. The Knesset member filters submit a GET form and preserve URL parameters.
- Comparison tables provide a mobile presentation or horizontal scrolling when columns do not fit. Numeric left-to-right strings are isolated inside right-to-left copy.
- Disclosure controls reveal caveats, source details and, on mobile, the main navigation. These are optional reading layers; the central metric and its period remain visible without opening them.
- Form feedback is announced with
role="status"on success androle="alert"on errors; submit buttons disable during requests.
Source of truth
The implemented routes under app/, components/Dashboard.tsx, and the reviewed content packages under content/packages/ are the source for this snapshot. This spec should be revisited when screens or source coverage change.
